This sample holder is intended for testing granular materials such as coarse powders, grains, granules, beads, and small pellets. It is mainly intended to operate with our Kapton-insulated Hot Disk® sensor model 4922, which has a double-spiral diameter of 29.2 mm. The grain/particle size of the granular sample must be significantly smaller (>10 times), than the double-spiral diameter (i.e. <3 mm for Hot Disk® sensor model 4922).

This sample holder consists of a cylindrically-shaped container with a loose lid that rests on the sample. The latter makes it possible to evenly pressurize the granular sample via mechanical force applied on the lid. The container has an inner diameter of 80 mm and an inner height of 55 mm (when the lid levels with the top of the container). A Hot Disk® sensor is positioned in the center of the container via a horizontal slot inlet. Sensor fixture and sample pressuring can conveniently be arranged with the use of our sample holder for solids.

The present sample holder is made of aluminum, and can be used up to 400°C.
