Sample Holder for Fine Powders, Pastes, Gels, Foams and Creams Model:Sample Holder for Fine Powders, Pastes, Gels, Foams and Creams
This sample holder is intended for testing fine powders, pastes, gels, foams, and creams. It is mainly geared toward operation with our Kapton-insulated Hot Disk® sensor models 5465 and 5501 for ambient temperatures below 400°C, but it can also be used with our corresponding Teflon-insulated (for reactive samples) Hot Disk® sensors for ambient temperatures below 250°C. Likewise, it can be used with our Mica-insulated Hot Disk® sensor models 5465 and 5082 for ambient temperatures above 400°C.

The present sample holder consists of a thick wall tube with two pistons that can move freely but tightly inside the tube. To mount the sample with the relevant sensor, the tube is divided by releasing two bolt screws on the top side, and then placing the bottom, with its piston inside, on a flat surface. The bottom is thereafter filled with half of the sample amount, while the sensor is then placed horizontally on top (where there is a dedicated recess for the sensor), making sure the double-spiral remains concentric with the tube. Next, the top is mounted and assembled by tightening the bolt screws. Finally, the remaining sample amount is filled into the top portion, and its piston is fitted accordingly. The top piston is taller than the bottom piston, and is designed to extend above the top surface when the sample with sensor is fully loaded and assembled. The purpose is to have easy access to pressurize the sample once loaded, via mechanical force on the top piston. The purpose of having a bottom piston, in turn, is for easy cleaning after usage. The sample holder comes in two outer-dimension-sizes tailored to fit into our two respective tube furnace TCUs. The sample container diameter is the same in both versions, but the sample container height is 14 mm in the smaller version (option 1) and 19 mm in the larger version (option 2).
The sample holder is made of stainless steel, and can be used up to 1000°C.- Option 1: Smaller version (fits in our non-split tube furnace TCU)
- Option 2: Larger version (fits in our split tube furnace TCU)
